Unit 4: Speaking Skill Classroom-based Assessment / PBD

🗣️ Speaking (DSKP 1.1.2, 1.1.3, 1.2.6, 1.3.1) — Unit 4: Lunchtime
Objective: Assess pupils’ ability to name and describe food items and quantities (e.g., I’ve got three carrots in the basket), use simple present tense and numbers correctly, and speak in short guided exchanges about food in familiar contexts.

Activities (for PBD / H5P)

Say What’s in the Basket
Show a basket or picture with food items. Pupils describe what is inside, e.g.,
I’ve got four apples and two bananas in the basket.

Grading (auto TP from % score)

• 90–100 → TP6: Speaks clearly and confidently to name and describe food items and numbers in simple sentences independently.

• 76–90 → TP5: Speaks and responds accurately with minimal support to name and describe food and quantities.

• 61–75 → TP4: Speaks simple food-related words and short phrases with some support.

• 41–60 → TP3: Names or answers familiar food words/phrases with guidance.

• 21–40 → TP2: Attempts to say familiar food words or numbers with support.

• 0–20 → TP1: Produces only a few sounds or single words with strong support.

Suggested DSKP Elements (Speaking, aligned to Unit 4)

• 1.1.2 Pronounce familiar English words and phrases clearly with support (e.g., carrot, apple, milk).

• 1.1.3 Use correct intonation and stress in simple phrases and sentences with support (e.g., I’ve got three bananas).

• 1.2.6 Participate in short guided exchanges about familiar topics (e.g., responding to How many apples do you have?).

• 1.3.1 Express simple information about oneself and others (e.g., I’ve got four oranges in my basket).
