📖 Reading (DSKP 2.1.1, 2.2.1, 2.2.2, 2.2.3) — Unit 4: Lunchtime
Objective: Assess pupils’ ability to recognise and read food- and meal-related words (e.g., apple, banana, milk, sandwich, breakfast, lunch), understand very simple written sentences, and locate specific details such as food type, quantity, and mealtime context in familiar settings.


Activities 

Match the Lunchbox with the Statements
Pupils read short sentences such as This lunchbox has an apple and a sandwich and drag or click to match the correct lunchbox picture


Choose True or False Based on the Statements
Pupils read simple sentences (e.g., The lunchbox has three bananas) and decide if the statements about a given picture are True or False.


Choose the Right Breakfast Plate 
Pupils read a short descriptive sentence or mini-text, e.g., Ben has milk and cereal for breakfast, and select the correct breakfast plate from multiple choices.


Grading (auto TP from % score)

  • 90–100 → TP6: Reads and understands food- and mealtime-related words and sentences with ease; answers detail questions accurately and independently.

  • 76–90 → TP5: Reads and responds accurately to short questions and statements with minimal support.

  • 61–75 → TP4: Understands main ideas and some details in very simple sentences with support; answers simple questions.

  • 41–60 → TP3: Recognises familiar food and meal words/phrases and matches them to pictures with guidance.

  • 21–40 → TP2: Recognises a few familiar food or meal words or letters with support.

  • 0–20 → TP1: Recognises only a few letters or words with strong support.


Suggested DSKP Elements (Reading, aligned to Unit 4)

  • 2.1.1 Recognise and sound out letters of the alphabet in English (e.g., /b/ in banana, /m/ in milk).

  • 2.2.1 Recognise and read familiar high-frequency words and simple phrases (e.g., apple, sandwich, lunchbox).

  • 2.2.2 Understand with support specific details in very simple phrases or sentences (e.g., number of apples, which drink).

  • 2.2.3 Understand and respond to very simple written questions or statements (e.g., True/False, Yes/No) based on pictures or short descriptions.
