Objective: Assess pupils’ ability to name and describe pets, answer simple Yes/No and Wh-questions, and speak in very short supported exchanges using familiar vocabulary (e.g., dog, cat, frog, spider, lizard, elephant), colours (green, brown), and location words (in, on, under).


Activities (for PBD / H5P)

1️⃣ Name the PetΒ 
Show pet pictures (dog, cat, frog, etc.). Pupils say the name clearly (e.g., It's a frog.).


2️⃣ Yes/No Questions
Teacher or audio asks, Is the spider on the desk? Pupils answer orally: Yes, it is / No, it isn’t


3️⃣ Describe Your Favourite Pet
Pupils look at a picture or bring a photo of a pet and describe it in 1–2 short sentences, e.g., It is a small brown dog. It is under the table.


Grading (auto TP from % score)

  • 90–100 β†’ TP6: Speaks clearly and confidently to name and describe pets using simple sentences and adjectives independently.

  • 76–90 β†’ TP5: Speaks and responds accurately with minimal support to name and describe pets.

  • 61–75 β†’ TP4: Speaks simple pet-related words and short phrases with some support.

  • 41–60 β†’ TP3: Names or answers familiar pet words/phrases with guidance.

  • 21–40 β†’ TP2: Attempts to say familiar pet words with support.

  • 0–20 β†’ TP1: Produces only a few sounds or single words with strong support.


Suggested DSKP Elements

  • 1.1.2 Pronounce familiar English words and phrases clearly with support.

  • 1.1.3 Use correct intonation and stress in simple phrases and sentences with support.

  • 1.2.6 Participate in short guided exchanges about familiar topics (e.g., asking/answering questions about pets).

  • 1.3.1 Express simple information about oneself and others (e.g., This is my cat. It is small and white.).
