👂 Listening (DSKP 1.1.1, 1.2.1, 1.2.2, 1.2.3, 1.2.4, 1.2.5) — Unit 3: Pet Show
Objective: Assess pupils’ ability to recognise pet-related words (e.g., dog, cat, frog, spider, lizard, elephant), follow short spoken instructions, and understand both the main idea and specific details of short supported questions and narratives in familiar contexts.


Activities

Listen & Match Pets
Pupils hear short words or phrases (e.g., dog, spider, green frog) and drag or click to match the correct picture.


Listen & Answer Yes/No
Pupils listen to simple questions such as Is the lizard under the desk? or Is the cat on the chair? and choose Yes, it is or No, it isn’t.


Listen to the Story and Answer Wh-Questions
Pupils listen to the short story The Spider and answer detail questions such as Who is scared of the spider? or Where is the frog?


Grading (auto TP from % score)

  • 90–100 → TP6: Understands pet-related spoken text (main idea and details) and responds accurately and independently.

  • 76–90 → TP5: Responds accurately with minimal support to Yes/No and Wh-questions about pets.

  • 61–75 → TP4: Understands main ideas and some details with support; answers simple questions.

  • 41–60 → TP3: Recognises familiar pet words and follows simple instructions with guidance.

  • 21–40 → TP2: Recognises a few pet vocabulary words or sounds with support.

  • 0–20 → TP1: Recognises only a few sounds or words with strong support.


Suggested DSKP Elements 

  • 1.1.1 Recognise and reproduce with support a range of high-frequency phonemes (e.g., /d/ in dog, /f/ in frog).

  • 1.2.1 Understand with support the main idea of very simple phrases or sentences (e.g., identifying animals in chants).

  • 1.2.2 Understand with support specific details in very simple phrases or sentences (e.g., number, colour, location like in/on/under).

  • 1.2.3 Understand very short supported narratives (e.g., the story The Spider).

  • 1.2.4 Understand short supported instructions (e.g., Point to the spider).

  • 1.2.5 Understand short supported questions (Yes/No and simple Wh-questions, e.g., Where is the frog?).
