Objective: Assess pupils’ ability to recognise and read words related to rooms, furniture and objects in a house (e.g., chairs, tables, windows, doors), understand simple sentences with quantities, and complete short written answers using the pattern There are … to describe what they read and count.

Activity

Read, Count and Write Using “There are …”
Pupils read a short text or sentence. Pupils count the numbers from the picture and write the answer

Grading (auto TP from % score)

• 90–100 → TP6: Reads and understands house-related words and simple sentences with ease; accurately writes sentences using There are … independently.

• 76–90 → TP5: Completes There are … sentences correctly with minimal support.

• 61–75 → TP4: Writes simple words and short sentences with There are … with some support.

• 41–60 → TP3: Recognises familiar house words and attempts to complete There are … sentences with guidance.

• 21–40 → TP2: Recognises a few familiar house words or letters and attempts to write them with support.

• 0–20 → TP1: Recognises only a few letters or words with strong support.

Suggested DSKP Elements

• 2.1.1 Recognise and sound out letters of the alphabet in English (e.g., /ch/ in chair, /d/ in door).

• 2.2.1 Recognise and read familiar high-frequency words and simple phrases (e.g., chair, window, table).
