🎧 Listening (DSKP 1.1.1, 1.2.1, 1.2.2)Unit 9: At the Beach
Objective: Assess pupils’ ability to listen and understand simple spoken sentences or short descriptions about interesting places in other countries (e.g., beaches, landmarks, activities) and identify the correct country based on the details they hear.

Activities

1. Listen and Choose the Correct Country
Pupils listen to short audio clips that describe an attraction or activity in another country.
Example:
🎧 “You can see the pyramids and ride a camel.” → Egypt
🎧 “You can swim in the sea and play on the beach.” → Australia

They then select the correct country picture or flag from the options provided.
Each recording will be played twice. Pupils listen carefully for key words that describe the place, activity, or landmark.

Grading (auto TP from % score)

90–100 → TP6: Understands spoken descriptions clearly and identifies the correct country independently.

76–90 → TP5: Understands most spoken descriptions accurately with minimal support; selects correct country most of the time.

61–75 → TP4: Understands main ideas and some details in simple descriptions with some support; occasional mistakes.

41–60 → TP3: Recognises familiar place names and activities; matches audio to country picture with guidance.

21–40 → TP2: Recognises a few familiar words (e.g. swim, beach, pyramid) with strong support.

0–20 → TP1: Struggles to recognise familiar spoken words or sentences, even with support; often guesses.

Suggested DSKP Elements

  • 1.2.1 Understand with support the main idea of simple spoken sentences (e.g., “What can you do at the beach?”).

  • 1.2.2 Understand with support specific details in simple spoken texts (e.g., country names, activities, landmarks).
